Dr. Chandana (Chandi) Jayawardena is a well-known tourism educator, consultant, researcher, author and hotelier. He was educated and trained in UK, USA, France, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and Sri Lanka. Chandi has held leadership positions in South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and North America and held accountability for budgets of $30 million, teams of 700 hotel employees and 3,300 hospitality and tourism students. Chandi has been a university / college senior lecturer, professor, research fellow, academic director, academic chair, associate dean and vice president. For 5-years, Chandi provided the academic leadership to the largest faculty of hospitality, tourism and culinary arts in Canada (George Brown College, Toronto). In this role he led a team of 260 professors serving 3,200 full-time students and 8,600 continuing education registrants in 3 schools. Prior to that, as an international hotelier (General Manager of 7 luxury hotels / resorts), he has served 34 heads of state / government, including Queen Elizabeth II, President Fidel Castro and Prime Minister John Major. He is the only non-European elected as the President of the world’s largest professional body for managers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries – Institute of Hospitality, UK, during its 80-year history. As a researcher and author, through a significant volume of published work including 20 books / academic journal themed issues and over 100 articles, Chandi has influenced a generation of doctoral, masters and undergraduate hospitality and tourism management students around the world. Chandi has travelled to 94 countries, presented at conferences and seminars in 38 countries and lived in four continents. As an international consultant, Chandi has led or served in teams for tourism and hospitality consulting projects for various organizational clients, including EU, USAID, Caribbean Tourism Organization, Amazon Corporation Treaty Organization, Government of Guyana, Tourism Development Authority and Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management of Sri Lanka.

Prof. Suranga Silva (Ph.D., (Amst.) in Tourism Econ; M.Phill (Maast.) in Enviremental Eco; MA (CMB) in Econ; Dip (Aus) in Env. Mgt; B.A (CMB) in Econ) is the Founding Coordinator: Masters in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management, University of Colombo, Secretary-General: Tourism and Hospitality Educators and Researchers Association of Asia (THERAA), Director: Center for Economic Research and Industrial Policy Analysis (CERIPA) and Act. Director: Colombo University Community Extension Center (CUCEC). Currently, he is working as a Permanent Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics, University of Colombo. He has conducted many training programmes, research projects, workshops, conferences for academics, administrative and supportive staff of the University of Colombo and other universities and academic institutions. He has published more 80 research articles, books and other related publications. Among several awards, he received the award for the Most Outstanding Tourism Education & Training Effort – the Year 2010 when he was the Director General (DG/CEO) of Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM), Ministry of Economic Development , the Winner of the Best IFITT-Talk Award – 2016 and Received a felicitation for the commendable service rendered with commitment and dedication to strengthen Indo Sri Lankan Relations with special reference to Tourism Academia, awarded by Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Nov 2016. In addition, Prof. Silva was felicitated by the Association for Sri Lanka–China Social and Cultural Cooperation for Dedication to Promoting Research and Academic Studies on Tourism Relations between Sri Lanka and China.
Dr Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan
Prof. Dr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, has over 25 years of academic experience and holds a doctorate degree from France. He is highly involved in hospitality and tourism education in Malaysia and the region. in November 2013, he initiated the setting-up of the ASEAN Tourism Research Network or now aptly known as ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ATRA), a regional cooperation among Universities in ASEAN countries for greater research and education collaboration on issues related to Hospitality & Tourism. He is presently the President of ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ATRA) and has been active in various International Boards such as Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). His areas of research include on Higher Education Models and System, Hotel and Tourism Development and Innovation; and, Food and Culture.
